The right way up
Phones write the orientation down as a note in the file, and some players ignore the note. Turning the actual pixels fixes it for every player at once.
Rotate a video
Runs on your device, nothing uploaded
Your video is read off your disk and every frame is redrawn through the turn by your own browser. No server is involved at any point. It re-encodes as it goes, so start from your original export rather than from a copy that has already been squeezed.
Three steps
How it works
Drop a file in
The preview shows your footage exactly as players currently see it, sideways and all.
Turn until it is right
Quarter turns either way, plus mirror and upside-down flips, and they combine.
Save it
Your browser redraws every frame through the turn. The audio is not touched.
What it is for
Why this one is worth having
The preview is the truth
It is drawn by the same code that writes the file, so what you see is exactly what saves.
Fixes it for every player
Some players read the orientation flag and some believe the file. After this there is no flag to disagree about; the pixels are simply upright.
Nothing gets uploaded
The turn happens in the tab, the same as the flips. No server, no account, no watermark.
FAQ
Video rotator, asked and answered
Why is my video sideways in the first place?
Phones record orientation as metadata rather than by turning the pixels, and some players and platforms ignore the metadata. This tool rotates the actual pixels, so there is nothing left to misread.
Can I flip instead of rotate?
Yes, both ways. Mirror for the backwards-text selfie problem, upside down for a mount that hung the camera the wrong way. Flips combine with the quarter turns.
Will it change the quality?
It is one re-encode at a high setting, so fractionally. On quarter turns the dimensions swap and nothing is scaled.
Does my video get uploaded?
No. The frames are redrawn through the turn in your own tab. No server is involved at any point.
Does the audio survive?
Untouched and in sync. A rotation only touches the picture.
